When the retention period expires, data is securely deleted or anonymized using appropriate methods.
7. Account Deletion
If you feel Wingmawo is no longer the right space for you, you can permanently delete your account at any time. We want the process to be clear, respectful, and fully in your control — and we also want you to understand exactly what happens when you delete your profile.
How to delete your account
You can delete your account directly inside the app:
- Open the app and go to Settings > Account > Delete Account
- Review the information shown on the screen
- Tap Continue
- Confirm your identity if prompted
- Select Permanently delete my account
Once confirmed:
- Your profile is immediately deactivated
- You will no longer appear in matches, searches, or recommendations
- Other users won't be able to view your profile or message you
Your data is then queued for permanent deletion from our active systems. Depending on system load and legal requirements, this process may take a short period of time, but your account will not be visible once you confirm deletion.
What will be deleted
When you request deletion, the following information is permanently removed and cannot be restored:
- Your full profile: photos, prompts, bio, preferences, and interests
- All matches, likes, passes, and other user interactions
- Chat history and messages you've sent or received
- Device identifiers and app activity tied to your account (unless needed for legal or safety reasons)
Once deletion is complete, none of this content can be recovered.
What may still be retained
For safety, compliance, and fraud-prevention reasons, we may keep certain limited records even after your account is deleted. Common examples include:
- Payment and subscription records we are required to keep for tax and audit purposes
- Fraud, safety, or abuse flags, if your account was involved in activity that could impact the safety of the community
- Information required by law, such as data related to disputes, law enforcement requests, or platform misuse
This information is never used for advertising or personalization and is stored only as long as necessary.
Important things to understand
- Deletion is permanent. If you come back later, you'll need to create a brand-new account.
- Uninstalling the app does NOT delete your account. You must complete the in-app deletion steps.
- Subscriptions do not cancel automatically. If you subscribed through any platform, you need to cancel your subscription in your device's subscription settings to stop future charges.
- If you used Google, or another login provider, deleting your Wingmawo account does not affect your external login — only your Wingmawo data is removed.
Your privacy and safety matter
Wingmawo is a dating app, and protecting user safety is a core part of our responsibility. When you delete your account:
- We prioritize deleting or anonymizing personal data that is no longer needed
- We retain only what is necessary to prevent fraud, enforce platform safety, and comply with the law
- If your region provides specific privacy rights (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), those rights continue to apply — including the ability to request access or export your data before deletion

8. Your Rights Under Applicable Laws
